Office Hours
The Chalfont Borough Police Department is a 24/7 operation. The administrative office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The administrative offices are closed for most national holidays.


Accident Reports
You may obtain copies of accident reports in person at the Chalfont Borough Police Department office or by written request. There is a $15.00 fee for each report copy.
You may also obtain copies of accident photographs (if available). If the photos are digital, there is a $20.00 fee for each compact disc. To obtain images from standard film, please call the office for pricing.


Incident Reports
You may obtain copies of incident reports in person at the Chalfont Borough Offices or by written request.

Parking Tickets
Parking ticket fines ($5.00 - $25.00) may be paid in person at the office, or by mail, within five (5) days of the violation. If you fail to respond to a parking ticket, a traffic citation will be filed in District Court and a summons will be mailed to you. If you wish to contest a parking ticket, simply wait for the summons in the mail.


Traffic and Non-Traffic Citations
Citations CAN NOT be paid at the police department office. You may plead guilty by sending the appropriate fine and costs to the District Court listed on the citation
OR
To request a hearing on any citation, you may plead not guilty on the citation and submit the request to District Court.
Failure to respond may result in an arrest warrant being issued for you and PENNDOT may suspend your driver's license.

Fees and Requirements for Solicitation
Fees
Base fee - $10.00
PLUS
Daily fee - $25.00
Weekly Fee - $150.00
(note - all fees are per person)

All applicants must provide the following (NO exceptions)
- a completed application
- two forms of identification
- two passport sized photos (for our files)
- a background check (done by Chalfont Police)
(note - this takes at least 24 hours)

Applications must be filled out at the Police station. each person in the group must appear in person and present their own application and identification. Each person must pay the base fee and one of the solicitation permit fees.
Religious and Political groups by law are exempt from this policy. They MUST however notify the police department when they will be in the Borough and what times they will be going door to door and how many people will be in the group.
ALL persons going door to door must present identification when asked.
NO MATTER WHAT GROUP THEY ARE WITH.


Identity Theft
Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personal information such as your name, date of birth or social security number to commit a fraud. Contact your local police department as soon as you discover that you have been the victim of fraud. If you are the victim of identity theft, contact the fraud department of all three major credit reporting bureaus. As a victim, you can obtain a copy of your credit report for free.

Departmental Services
The following services are provided to Borough residents and employees of Borough businesses.


Fingerprinting
Persons that require fingerprinting for non criminal purposes may contact the office to schedule an appointment. This service is ONLY for Borough residents or employees of Borough businesses.
Fees
$10.00 per card


Vacation Notices *
Residents are urged to notify the Police Department prior to leaving for vacation. Please contact the Police Department office by phone or visit the office to supply the required information.


Security Surveys *
Chalfont Borough Police conduct security and safety inspections of homes and businesses located within our Borough. Contact us to schedule an appointment with one of our Crime Prevention Officers for this service.


Public Appearances
Police officers are available to address community groups on law enforcement issues; including but not limited to identity theft, drug identification, home and business security. Please contact the office to schedule a public appearance, or to suggest a topic.


Criminal History Check
The Chalfont Borough Police Department DOES NOT release or perform Criminal History checks, however, you may use the following link to access the Pennsylvania State Police web site and for a fee, you may request a Criminal History check online.  PSP Criminal History Request


Community Alert Network
The CAN system (Community Alert Network) contains the names, addresses and phone numbers of all residents in the community of Chalfont. Once the system is activated all residents are contacted within minutes.
Some of the situations that may cause the CAN system to activate are: Extreme weather, Missing children, An event that may require residents to be evacuated or any other high emergency situation.
