Borough Ordinances
Chalfont Borough has numerous ordinances that govern certain rules and regulations.
 The following is a partial list of the most common ordinances to be aware of.
A copy of any ordinance is available at the Borough administration office.


Parking Ordinance
Ordinance # 308
This ordinance regulates the parking which is prohibited in certain locations, certain days and hours.
There is NO parking on ALL Borough streets between 1:00 am and 6:00 am.
(notify the Police department to request a short-term courtesy if you or a guest must park on the street overnight)


Snow and Ice Ordinance
Ordinance # 299 and # 308
Chalfont Borough requires that snow and ice are removed from your sidewalks.
- within 12 hours after the cessation of any snow, sleet or freezing rain
- a clear 30 inch pathway is required
- vehicles are required to be removed from all streets  and snow emergency routes
- no person shall deposit snow into the roadway or around fire hydrants


Burning Ordinance
Ordinance # 97
This ordinance deals with the terms and conditions for fires on private property.
- no fire shall be ignited prior to 9:00 am
- all fires shall be attended at all times, until completely extinguished
- no fire shall be within 15 feet of any building
- no burning of garbage, rubber, leather, plastic, paint, grease, oil or other petroleum products
- no fire shall cause smoke to interfere with visibility, which causes damage to property of others or interferes with the welfare and comfort of others in the community


Noise Ordinance
Ordiance # 319
Residential
- radio, tv, musical instrument, etc - not before 10:00 am or after 10:00 pm
- mechanically powered saws, blowers, lawn tools, etc - not before 7:00 am or after 9:00 pm
Industrial
not before 7:00 am or after 7:00 pm
NEVER on Sunday


Dog Ordinance (Excessive Barking and Removal of Feces)
Ordiance # 202
This applies to owners, keepers and possessors of dogs.
Excessive Barking
- owner shall not permit dog to bark excessively or continuously as to disturb the peace
- this shall be deemed a public nuisance
Removal of Feces
- owner shall not permit dog to defecate on the property of another, or on streets, sidewalks, curbs, alleys, etc... unless the owner removes the feces promptly


Discharge of Weapons Ordinance
Ordinance # 111A
This ordinance prohibits the discharge or firing of guns, bow and arrows and other weapons within the Borough of Chalfont.
Definitions:
- firearms : any gun, rifle, pistol, air rifle, BB gun, CO2 gun, revolver, automatic weapon, shotgun or other pellet firing device
- bow and arrow : all bows and arrows


Alarms Ordinance
Ordinance # 254A
It shall be the responsibilty of the persons, entities, firms, corporations or other groups that maintain an alarm system within Chalfont Borough to:
- provide police with the names and telephone numbers of the responsible person in case of emergency
- prevent transmissions of false alarms. The maximum permissible number of false alarms shall be three (3) in any one year period

Regulating and Licensing of Transient Retail Businesses Ordinance
Ordinance # 326
NO person shall engage in peddling in the Borough withour first having obtained a license.
